Schools Fitness Challenge brought to you by Irish Life Health
The Schools Fitness Challenge aims to help secondary schools students adopt a healthier lifestyle. There are three phases to the Schools’ Fitness Challenge:
1): The initial fitness test to measure current fitness levels
2): A six week training programme to improve cardiovascular fitness
3): A repeat test to measure new fitness levels
Research shows that 15-16 year olds already show signs of heart disease due to poor fitness*.
Research has found that boys with low levels of fitness had significantly more plaque in the walls of the arteries supplying the brain than very fit boys**.
Change is good
The Irish Life Health Schools’ Fitness Challenge aims to highlight the importance of cardiovascular fitness and establish the habit of being regularly active from an early age.

Key dates for your diary:
September 22nd: Registration closes
October 6th: Submit initial bleep test
October 9th: 6 week challenge begins
November 24th: 6 week challenge ends
December 8th: Submit final bleep test
